These monsters, often the source of horror stories for the young children of Flaris, are the reincarnation of the greedy baron Mr. Pumkin which was cursed by the Gods of Lais to roam the earth as the scarecrow on his field. They populate the center of Saint Morning and can occasionally be aggressive to adventurers. You will see them patrolling the fields with a candle in their hand.
