Area of effect (or AoE) is a term used to describe attacks or spells that affect multiple targets within an area.
Examples of AoE skills are the Ranger's Ice Arrow and the Elementor's Windfield.
Area of effect can also refer to spells and abilities that are non-damaging and non-explosive. For example, a powerful healing spell may affect anyone within a certain range of the caster (often only if they are a member of the caster's party). As a variation, some AoEs are centered around the caster. An example of this is the Elementor spell Electric Shock.
Since AoEing does wonders for leveling, virtually any job that has an AoE will have a build (or several) centered around leveling through use of it.
